Certified Medical Assistant Details
Essential Job Duties:
Collaborates with the nurse or physician to determine nursing needs of the patients.
Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
Provides for patient comfort.
Monitors physiological status.
Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
Performs initial screening of patients. Assists with medical treatment of patients. Provides emergency first aid measures.
Performs Basic Life Support (CPR). CPR certification required.
Uses effective communication skills and interpersonal skills in obtaining information from patients.
Demonstrates knowledge of Medical Group policy and procedures as directed by the nurse or physician.
Uses correct procedures and techniques in providing patient care.
Uses appropriate reference material, such as Policy Manual, Procedure Manual, MSDS sheets, etc.
Demonstrates knowledge of the use of the equipment needed for rendering direct patient care.
Assists physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals. 4. Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments. 5. Screens telephone calls for referral to nurse or physician. 6. Maintains patient files, records, and other information. 7. Provides general information on departmental policies and procedures. 8. May call in patients prescriptions as directed by physician. 9. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. 10. Assists new employees in meeting educational needs through instruction, demonstration, and feedback. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. 12. Shows an understanding of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. 13. Is expected to float to other departments as assigned.
Qualifications for CMA Applicants:
Graduate from an accredited program for Certified Medical Assistants, Registered. Medical Assistants or Certified Clinical Medical Assistants program.
Must have active CMA, RMA or CCMA certificate.
BLS certification.
Previous CMA experience preferred.
Flexible in work schedule to meet the demands of the department.
