Clinical Nurse Coordinator, Rn - Cardiovascular Services Pcu 2ab

CNC is a front-line care provider as well as a coordinator and leader for the healthcare team. Within the nursing paradigm, the CNC applies the nursing process at the point of care through the strategic assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of the unit as a whole to guide efforts for systematic, quality, and safety improvements. A critical component of the CNC role centers on improving effective interdisciplinary communication and coordination at the point of care. As a care-delivery-systems expert, the CNC helps patients and families navigate the complex healthcare system; advocates for both patients and families, as well healthcare providers, working within the unit, the hospital, and the system. The CNC is accountable for improving care delivery within a unique healthcare delivery setting. The core focus for CNC practice centers on maximizing safe, quality, evidence-based care within the complex systems.

Essential job functions include maintaining professional and technical knowledge, assuring quality of care, protecting patients and employees, documenting patient care services, maintaining continuity among nursing teams, maintaining patient confidence, identifying patient care requirements, establishing a compassionate environment, promoting patient's independence, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, resolving patient problems and needs, maintaining a cooperative relationship among health care teams, contributing to team effort, ensuring operation of equipment, maintaining nursing supplies inventory, and functioning in compliance with specialty standards, practice guidelines and protocols.

Required qualifications/experience include a graduate of an accredited nursing program, a bachelor's degree in nursing, one year experience in relevant nursing field, strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice. Preferred qualifications/experience include national certification in area of specialty and previous charge nurse experience.

License, certification, and clearances required include current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Pennsylvania, current basic life support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program, act 33 with renewal, act 34 with renewal, and act 73 FBI clearance with renewal.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. The incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.) and travel may be expected locally between system locations.
