Civil Engineer Project Manager - Land Development

Job Summary:
The Project Manager - Land Development will be accountable for project performance, ensuring quality control on deliverables. The Project Manager will oversee the overall design, management, and execution of the project and provide direction and guidance to engineers and technicians to achieve milestones and deliverables.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works directly with the Department/Group Manager to identify and coordinate team priorities, deliverables, and submittals for various projects.
- Works directly with clients to ensure goals and expectations are met and the product is delivered adequately and appropriately.
- Oversees Project Lead, Project Engineer and Design Engineer's work product and coordinate work assignments. Provide technical direction, training, and guidance to younger staff to grow their knowledge and tool sets.
- Provides professional and technical staff assistance. Identify clear, articulate direction to staff regarding performance expectations.
- Conducts quality assurance and quality control on projects, and provides constructability oversight for projects.
- Review work from staff to ensure sound and accurate designs that meet all applicable criteria, client or project goals, and the high standard of quality that the company demands. This includes reviewing construction plans, cost estimates, calculations, models, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate all aspects of project life cycle with clients/owners, design teams, internal staff and all other necessary resources.
- Prepare and manage project schedules, project plans and project budgets.
- Provide direction to technical staff on project issues and general engineering principles including Project Engineers, EIT's, and Design Engineers.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design, plan set and specification preparation and obtaining agency approvals in the greater Front Range of Colorado.
- Strong business relationships with Colorado clients at the local, county and state level.
- Promote a positive teamwork environment.
- May sign and seal drawings prepared under their supervision.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong technical expertise in the Civil Engineering design of Land Development projects (commercial, single family residential and multi-family).
- Strong experience and expertise in grading design, storm water design, domestic water distribution, sanitary sewer and general plan production.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills, planning and organizational skills.
- Experience with regulatory agencies, with familiarity with federal, state, and local policies.
- Experience with construction services and construction observation.
- Experience with project submittal processes.
- Experience in project planning, resource and budget estimating, understanding and working to standards of quality and safety as required.
- Well organized and articulate; must be able to prioritize and execute effectively.
- Must demonstrate ability to work effectively on a collaborative team with management and non-management level members to accomplish objectives under pressure. Must also be highly self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to exercise independent judgment and take action appropriate to the situation.
- Must be able to engage current and potential clients in a professional manner which positively represents the company.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and resources in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated design software.
- Broad multi-disciplinary knowledge in civil engineering including land development, transportation, water resources, wastewater, structural, and geotechnical topics.
- Project Manager II to have advanced experience in all project management aspects.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- Valid Colorado PE license (preferred).
- Minimum of 10 - 12 years of applicable civil engineering experience.
