Chief Operating Officer Location: Orange County, CA (On-site) Industry: Personal Injury Law Employment Type: Full-time | Executive Leadership Company Overview Our client is a fast-growing, high-performing personal injury law firm based in Orange County, CA, known for exceptional client outcomes, operational discipline, and a sharp focus on growth. With a team of over 250 employees, the firm is entering its next phase of expansion and requires a senior operational leader to support and scale its infrastructure. Position Summary The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for leading firm-wide operations, aligning cross-functional teams, and ensuring organizational excellence across departments. This role is critical to the firm's mission of maintaining best-in-class service while expanding at speed. The ideal candidate has direct personal injury law firm experience and a track record of leading operations at scale. Experience in other high-volume legal or consumer-facing services (e.g. healthcare, insurance, legal marketing) is a plus but secondary to personal injury expertise. Key Responsibilities Operational Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement scalable systems across legal operations, intake, case management, HR, and finance to support continued firm growth. Executive Leadership & Alignment: Serve as a core member of the executive team; align operations with firm goals and partner closely with the CEO and department heads. Team Development & Management: Lead, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing team across functional areas; foster a culture of performance, clarity, and operational rigor. Process Improvement: Identify and address inefficiencies across the firm, implement systems that drive throughput and streamline workflows. Workforce & Resource Planning: Oversee headcount planning, vendor strategy, budget management, and space utilization to support scale. Client Service Delivery: Ensure operational consistency and excellence throughout every stage of the client lifecycle—from intake to resolution. Compliance & Risk: Ensure the firm meets operational, regulatory, and legal standards; support risk mitigation and internal controls. Qualifications Proven success in a senior operations leadership role (COO, VP Ops, Managing Director, etc.) within a law firm or professional services firm, ideally personal injury law. Experience leading a company or business unit of 250+ employees and preparing for the next stage of growth Deep operational expertise across intake, legal ops, HR, finance, and compliance in a high-volume environment. Track record of building and scaling teams, systems, and processes with strong KPIs and reporting discipline. Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills; able to foster alignment at every level. Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Orange County area and work on-site.
