University of Arizona (UArizona) College of Medicine – Tucson invites applications for the position of Chair, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. This is an exceptional opportunity for a collaborative, compassionate, and mission-driven leader to advance and grow the department across all its mission areas, and advance women's health across Arizona. With approximately 30 faculty, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is comprised of multiple divisions including General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. The department offers a four-year ACGME-accredited residency program with four residents per year, and a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship. The department fosters a strong culture of inquiry and innovation, with research spanning basic science, translational, and clinical disciplines. With strong support and collaborations within the College of Medicine-Tucson, Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, and other colleges within the university, the next Chair will have the opportunity to lead and strengthen the department, advancing research, education, and clinical care in the ongoing pursuit of excellence. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Medicine, the next Chair will be a servant-leader with strong listening and communications skills, and clinical and administrative acumen that garners the respect and trust of faculty and leadership. The ideal leader will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to advocate for the department, and emotional intelligence to communicate effectively. The successful candidate will be an academic physician with a national reputation and a substantial record of research, education, clinical, and administrative accomplishments. They will have the knowledge and ability to effectively lead physicians and other health professionals, researchers, and educators while embracing the values of quality and financial sustainability. Candidates must have the leadership experience required to oversee a busy clinical department. Integrity, intellect, the ability to work collaboratively with numerous stakeholders, and a vision of how a modern academic department of obstetrics and gynecology thrives in an age of health reform are essential.
