Position Purpose: Food and food service delivery drivers play a critical role in the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers not only ensure timely and safe delivery of products but also represent our company, fostering long-lasting relationships with our customers.
The driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local and interstate routes, handling food and related products deliveries in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This includes professional communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure timely responses to inquiries. Collaboration with team members is essential, performing various duties as needed to support company operations.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Conducting all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and ensuring that the tractor/truck and trailer meet DOT regulations and company safety standards. Reporting any safety issues or necessary repairs promptly. Adhering to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies while addressing safety hazards appropriately. Conducting count checks and verifying accuracy of customer invoices for loaded items. Completing all necessary freight paperwork accurately and legibly. Transporting the tractor to the loading dock and connecting to pre-loaded trailers as needed. Driving and delivering customer orders based on a predetermined route schedule. Unloading products and transferring items to designated storage areas at customer locations. Inspecting items for damage and communicating issues with the supervisor following company policies. Confirming delivery with customers and obtaining appropriate signatures. Collecting payments (where required) including cash or checks. Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing trailer doors. Ensuring that the tractor, trailer, and freight are secured at all times. Processing customer returns and damaged goods according to procedure. Removing all trash and maintaining cleanliness in trailers and loading dock areas as required. Completing daily logs of hours of service in line with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements. Securing all equipment at the shift's end and finalizing necessary paperwork. Carrying out other related duties as assigned. Qualification: 6 months of commercial driving experience. High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Valid CDL B license. Compliance with all state licensing and/or certification requirements (if applicable). Minimum age of 21 years. Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years. Passing a post-offer drug test and criminal background check. Successful completion of a road test. Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one. Capability to lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight weighing between 10-90 pounds depending on the location.
