Home-Based Youth Caregivers

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a renowned private educational institution that offers a unique career path for married couples who are passionate about nurturing and guiding youth.

The school has a long history of providing an exceptional education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and we are seeking dedicated individuals to become part of our team as flex houseparents.

As a flex houseparent, you will have the opportunity to reside in on-campus student homes and provide a stable, family-like environment for a group of approximately 8-12 students. Your responsibilities will include driving, administering medication, budgeting, reporting, and other tasks that support the well-being of the students in your care.

Flex houseparents work a schedule of nine days on followed by three days off, with a period of personal time during the day when students are at school. They also enjoy a three-week paid summer vacation.

Qualifications for this role include experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably in under-served settings. Couples must have been legally married for at least two years, be aged 27 or older, and have no more than three dependent children residing in the student home. Additionally, they must abide by a smoke-free and weapon-free campus policy and adhere to limitations on pets.

Candidates must also possess a valid U.S. driver's license and be able to become certified to drive student home vans. They should be comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Judeo-Christian Sunday chapel services, while demonstrating a high degree of integrity and being role models for the students.Both spouses must complete an individual employment application and meet certain physical requirements, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
