Job Description Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current licensure in good standing in the state Certifications: ACLS, PALS, and CPR required. NRP and TNCC required within one year of hire date. Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Description: Reports directly to the on-duty Nursing Supervisor. The nurse handles a wide spectrum of medical conditions, maladies, and injuries. Must be able to multi-task efficiently to provide premium care to the patient. The nurse must assess and treat quickly, especially during the onset of acute illness or trauma. Will assist the emergency room team leader and acute care nurse as directed.

Position Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure in good standing in the state. One year of experience as an Emergency Department nurse preferred. ACLS, PALS, and CPR certification required.
Position Responsibilities: Demonstrates professional behavior while on duty and as a representative outside normal work hours. Ability to work collaboratively with others at all levels within the organization. Above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and facility staff. Demonstrates organizational ability and time management. Demonstrates the ability to use office machines in the performance of job functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Conducts individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on the patient's immediate condition or needs. Notifies the Charge Nurse and medical staff of abnormal findings. Develops individualized plans of care for patients, reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by the physician in an accurate and timely manner. Performs assigned tasks accurately, including EKGs, blood draws, IV starts, etc. Keeps the work area and beds clean and restocked. Provides individualized patient and family education. Documents patient assessment findings, physical and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions, and progress towards problem resolution. Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to appropriate resuscitation protocols. Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patients, families, and facility staff. Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patients and families' diversity. Preserves the autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families. Adheres to standards of safety and infection control in the delivery of patient care. Assists nursing staff in other departments as requested and if qualified, when the need arises. Assumes professional responsibility for assuring patient care is of the highest standards. Communicates questions about the appropriateness of medical or nursing care through the chain of command as needed. Follows procedures for medication administration and narcotics control. Documents medications and nursing care in a timely and accurate manner.
Professional Requirements: Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and professional. Completes annual education requirements as applicable. Maintains regulatory requirements. Wears identification while on duty. Attends annual evaluations and participates actively in this process. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in the designated time. Attends meetings as required. Exhibits the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization in the performance of job duties.
Working Conditions: Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary. Involvement with personnel, visitors, and government agencies as necessary. Must function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients, and support agencies.
Physical Requirements: Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks, and moves intermittently during working hours. Able to lift 50 lbs.
