The Authorization Coordinator is responsible for obtaining and verifying prior authorizations for services and procedures. This role ensures that all approvals are secured from all necessary parties.
Responsibilities: Obtain prior authorizations for services, procedures, and medications from all necessary parties. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all authorization requests and approvals. Communicate with all necessary parties to resolve any issues related to authorizations. Track and follow up on pending authorization requests to ensure timely approvals. Ensure all authorization processes comply with relevant regulations and payer requirements. Assist all necessary parties with authorization-related inquiries and issues. Generate and analyze reports on authorization activities and outcomes. Comply with local, state and federal confidentiality laws and regulations Collaborate with professionals both within and outside the agency, as appropriate Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences Abide by Pax Health code of ethics and model values Other duties as assigned Requirements: Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, insurance verification, or a related role. Strong knowledge of insurance authorization processes and requirements. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in healthcare software and EHR systems Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CPB) preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and other relevant laws.
