Job Description / Essential Elements:
FALLBROOK UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT ATHLETIC TRAINER/EQUIPMENT MANAGER
DEFINITION
Under general supervision of the Athletic Director, is responsible for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; as well as the issue, return, repair, inventory and security of all athletic and physical education equipment; and to do related work as required. The nature of this position is such that the hours must be flexible. The Athletic Director will be responsible to ensure that the total hours are not exceeded.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES • Helps coaches plan a conditioning program to prevent injuries • Advises coaches on warm up procedures • Assists in the purchase, fitting, and care of equipment • Works with coaches for cleaning and repair of equipment and uniforms • Maintains a current and accurate inventory of all equipment, and advises on the safety of equipment • Sets up physical examinations • Assists in preventive taping and bandaging • Conducts necessary in-service programs for coaches, athletes, and student training • Orders necessary trainer's supplies and equipment and maintains inventory of same • Administers necessary first aid and emergency care during regular school day, practices, and contests • Supervises the rehabilitation of injured athletes • Maintains records of all injuries and treatment administered • Is available for all home athletic contests • Accompanies varsity and junior varsity football teams on away contests • Supervises the security of the locker room
QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE • BA or Masters Degree and/or experience relating to the prevention and care of athletic injuries; some experience working with physical education and athletic equipment
KNOWLEDGE OF • Modern training techniques and procedures, equipment used in physical education classes, safety measures
SKILLS/ABILITY TO • Recognize and assist in the care of injuries • Organize and manage equipment proficiently • Maintain accurate records • Assume responsibility and exercise sound judgment • Communicate effectively with students, staff and the public • Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
LICENSES • A valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license • Possession of a certificate from the National Athletic Trainers Association or ability to obtain certificate is required.
SALARY RANGE: 25 WORK YEAR: 11 Months SUPERVISOR: Athletic Director

LICENSES
A valid California Motor Vehicle operator's license.
Possession of a certificate from the National Athletic Trainers Association required.
