Position Summary:


As an Assistant General Manager of a newly built Element by Marriott, you will play a pivotal role in launching and operating a modern, eco-conscious, extended-stay hotel. You will support the General Manager in overseeing all daily operations, drive guest satisfaction, build and train a new team, and uphold the Element brand’s focus on wellness, balance, and sustainability.


Pre-Opening Duties:
  • Assist with the pre-opening process, including vendor coordination, pre-opening checklists, FF&E delivery, and systems implementation.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard all department staff with a focus on Element brand standards.
  • Help ensure operational readiness for soft and grand openings, including trial stays and service rehearsals.
Operations Management:
  • Supervise daily hotel operations, ensuring service excellence across front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and food & beverage (Grab-n-Go, Rise breakfast, etc.).
  • Monitor and manage guest experience, handle escalations, and resolve service issues promptly.
  • Implement Marriott brand standards and ensure compliance with Element’s sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist with inventory control, ordering, staffing, and scheduling across departments.
Staff Leadership:
  • Build a positive, performance-driven culture aligned with the Element brand values.
  • Train, mentor, and develop supervisors and line-level employees.
  • Lead shift meetings and ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures, and service standards.
Guest & Brand Experience:
  • Ensure a seamless, wellness-focused guest experience aligned with Element’s positioning (e.g., healthy breakfast, eco-friendly amenities, in-room kitchens, fitness offerings).
  • Monitor guest feedback on platforms like Marriott GSS, TripAdvisor, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to support promotional initiatives and local partnerships.

Financial & Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with budgeting, payroll, and cost control.
  • Support daily reporting, month-end processes, and Marriott systems (e.g., MARSHA, GXP, Lightspeed, and Profit Sword).
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and brand health & safety regulations.

Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of hotel management experience; Marriott brand experience a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with opening a hotel or a new build property preferred.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and hotel property management systems (e.g., Lightspeed, Profit Sword, GXP).
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
