As the Associate, Communications , you will support the development and execution of integrated communications strategies for key portfolios within the Bush Institute's policy and public engagement initiatives. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented communications professional experienced in content development, media outreach, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven nonprofit environment. To succeed as the Associate, Communications , you should have: Bachelor's degree required; degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Policy preferred, with 2-3 years of professional experience in communications, media relations, nonprofit, government, or public policy environments.
Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex policy issues into clear, compelling content for digital communications, thought leadership, media outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
Experience with social media platforms, basic analytics tools, CMS platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite; solid project coordination, content management, and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Professional fluency in English required; ability to travel up to 10% as needed, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting, and maintain discretion when handling sensitive information.
Your responsibilities as the Associate, Communications will include: Translate public policy research and initiatives into audience-focused content across blogs, websites, email marketing, newsletters, and social media platforms, ensuring brand alignment and editorial excellence.
Draft and edit digital content, press materials, media pitches, and thought leadership pieces to support media relations, public affairs, and nonprofit communications strategies.
Manage and maintain content calendars, coordinate cross-functional communications projects, and track deliverables to ensure on-time execution in a fast-paced environment.
Conduct media research, update media lists, monitor press coverage, and compile media analytic reports to support strategic media outreach and earn media visibility.
Support social media management and digital engagement efforts, including scheduling content, tracking performance metrics, and assisting with analytics reporting to optimize communications impact.
