Job Title: Associate Attorney, Workers Compensation Location: Orange County, Los Angeles County, or Sacramento, CA Core Responsibilities: Advocate effectively on behalf of insurance carriers, TPAs, and self-insured employers in all phases of workers’ compensation litigation. Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and other legal documents. Prepare accurate and timely correspondence to clients and stakeholders. Represent clients at court appearances, hearings, depositions, and cross-examinations, including of medical professionals. Negotiate case settlements, lien claims, and prepare settlement documents. Manage and maintain an organized case calendar to ensure compliance with deadlines. Proactively manage cases from inception through resolution. Supervise and mentor legal assistants to ensure high-quality support and development. Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors, and third parties. Attend and participate in marketing and networking events with current and prospective clients. Input and track case activities, correspondence, and billable hours in legal practice software (e.g., PracticeMaster, billing systems). Conduct training seminars for clients on recent updates to workers’ compensation laws. Stay current on legislative and case law changes impacting the workers’ compensation landscape. Attend internal client file reviews and contribute to strategic case planning. Essentials: Demonstrated a minimum of experience ranging up to 5+ years on the defense side J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California Experience with PracticeMaster or similar software Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), and legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw. Skilled in deposition-taking, cross-examinations, and courtroom presentation. Ability to manage digital records, and compliance with court e-filing systems. In-depth knowledge of workers’ compensation laws, procedures, and relevant case law. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for correspondence, negotiation, and litigation. Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Ability to assess legal issues, identify risks, and develop practical, results-oriented solutions. Proven track record of litigation and case resolution success Work well with leadership collaborations and welcome constructive feedback Excellent interpersonal skills with a client-first approach, Willing to appear in court digitally as needed (This is truncated job description and may be expanded or revised.) Compensation: The projected annual salary is estimated at $100,000 - $200,000 per year, based on years of demonstrated experience, representing the span of the range. The actual compensation will be formulated by the client and may vary based on factors that include, but are not limited to, the position offered, work experience, education, training, and commensurate experience.
