Assistant Resort General Managers

Assistant Resort General Managers are responsible for assisting the GM with the operational and the continued profitability of the resort and serve as the day-to-day point of contact for guests. They are in charge of everything from administrative activities, marketing, to property maintenance, budgeting, and most importantly guest relations.

Guest Relations Management

  • Ensures guests receive the highest levels of customer service consistent with Island's Customer Service philosophy.
  • Handles and resolves guest complaints, inquiries and issues in a timely and professional manner, communicating through a variety of means. All written correspondence to guest inquiries must be sent by RVP.

Operations Management

  • Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Monitors, codes, and approves all Island Communities (if applicable) invoices for operating expenses and sales related costs.
  • Maintains petty cash and activity accounts (if applicable).
  • Handles and reports emergencies that may arise onsite, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Oversees and accounts for balancing of RV income nightly. Signs off on bank deposits and forwards RV income report to Main Office on a nightly basis.
  • Coordinates the timely distribution of rental increases and lease renewal notices (if applicable).
  • Manages the rent collection process, including collecting, posting and depositing income from leasing of rental sites. Ensures bad debt is submitted to collections.
  • Handles delinquencies and approves eviction proceedings while adhering to Island's policies. Evictions for cause require RVP approval.
  • Assists RVP and/or marketing specialist with developing a marketing strategy and maintaining effective advertising to attract prospective guests to the resort. Stores copies of marketing materials in an "AD book" or portfolio format.
  • Assists RVP with preparation of annual operating budget. Provides accurate data to assist in capital expenditure and expansion budget needs to RVP.
  • Reviews monthly property accounting reports and compiles reports for the Accounting Department, as required. Prepares monthly explanation of P&L variances.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
  • 2 years property management/resort experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience (Required)
  • General knowledge of maintenance
  • Solid negotiation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to fair housing and employment law
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email, the internet, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Flexibility to respond to resort needs during non-business hours
  • Ability to live on-site within the resort (housing provided), if applicable

Working Conditions

Resort team members are generally exposed to a variety of shifts that include a variety of hours, weekends, and holidays due to the 24-hour operation of a resort. The common workplace environment in resorts is fast-paced, with high levels of interaction with guests, employees, and managers.

  • May be exposed to bright lights.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (i.e. heat or cold).
  • May have periods of constant interruptions; requiring changing from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
