Join a team that supports the domestic and export trading and merchandising of agricultural products in the renewable fuels, whole grains and animal feed space. The successful candidate is a team focused and detail oriented person with advanced organizational skills who enjoys helping to manage a team as well as ensure all accounting tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner. You will learn how all facets of the business operate together and be instrumental in decisions on defining business processes for new and existing business.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly closing process - coordinate with the team to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely fashion and troubleshoot issues. Manage the closing schedule and night roll process with the team and IT.
  • Close the books - prepare/review and post all entries. Evaluate P&L's and prepare estimate vs actual analysis for all trading P&L's. Prepare F/S for final review.
  • Prepare/review all account reconciliations for final review.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all journal entries
  • Handle questions from team on how to record non-standard transactions and questions as they arise
  • Point person for system access for Hawkeye for ERP and proprietary systems
  • Learn how Agris (Accounting system), Track & Ship (Logistics System) , Weighflow (Inventory Management), Jazz (gross margin estimate), Filebound (file storage and workflow) and Fileit (email distribution and document delivery storage system) work together to execute and manage the entire business and how transactions are entered. Assist in evaluating process for process improvement or development of processes for new P&L's or transaction types.
  • Actively participate in project to change ERP systems to Microsoft D365
  • Assist in preparation of workpapers for auditors
  • Complete adhoc analysis/reporting as requested - which means understanding how data is stored and where, how to get at it and how to analysis/summarize it.
  • Prepare monthly Metric package.
  • This position will have direct reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
  • 1-5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Agricultural experience is a plus, but not required
  • Expert-level Excel & strong ERP/financial system proficiency, experience with Agris and/or Microsoft D365 is a plus.
