The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is currently seeking an Assessment Security Psychometrician to join its Assessment Security team. The Assessment Security Psychometrician is an integral role in the department and will work closely with psychometric and assessment operations staff to support departmental tasks and initiatives. This position will be responsible for supporting test security operations and psychometrics within ABIM. A solid foundation in psychometric theory and experience developing statistical applications is required.

Reporting to the Assessment Security Manager, the Assessment Security Psychometrician will coordinate and handle the following key responsibilities: Conduct test security analyses and processes for Certification exams, Maintenance of Certification exams, and the Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA). Develop expertise in statistical methodologies for identifying anomalous test taking behavior Under the direction of the Assessment Security Manager, contribute to generating and maintaining statistical forensics code for detecting anomalous behavior. Provide support for internal investigations of incidents in accordance with the test security plan. Conduct standard operational psychometric analyses for Certification exams, Maintenance of Certification exams, and the LKA (e.g., item analysis, IRT calibration, equating) Contribute to the research community via conference presentations and/or journal publications. The ideal candidate has a doctorate degree in educational/psychological measurement, statistics, or related field with zero to three years' experience and has the ability to effectively use statistical analysis programs and IRT software including (but not limited to) SAS and R. Additionally, experience in the principles and application of psychometrics including item response theory (i.e., item calibration, item evaluation, linking/equating, and IRT scoring), classical test theory, and standard setting is required.
