Job Summary:
The Architectural Designer II is responsible for contributing to the design and technical aspects of architectural projects. This role builds on foundational skills, expanding into detailed design and project documentation, while supporting project leaders and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The position offers opportunities to develop design concepts, produce detailed drawings, and participate in the project development process.
Primary Essential Functions:
- Participate in the development of design concepts by creating digital models, visual renderings, and schematic drawings that communicate design ideas effectively.
- Create architectural drawings and construction documents using CAD and BIM software, ensuring compliance with project specifications and company standards.
- Research building codes, zoning regulations, and materials to ensure that designs meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants (e.g., structural, mechanical, electrical) to integrate systems and components into architectural designs.
- Support senior architects in coordinating design revisions based on client feedback, regulatory requirements, and project constraints.
- Participate in client and team meetings, presenting design concepts and updates to stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits during the design or construction phase to assist in assessing existing conditions and ensure that project execution aligns with design intent.
- Assist in managing project documentation, including maintaining design files, project schedules, and communication logs, to ensure smooth project workflows.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of architectural design principles, construction methods, and building systems.
- Familiarity with building codes, zoning laws, and industry standards.
- Awareness of sustainable design principles and their application in architectural projects.
- Knowledge of project documentation processes and construction documentation techniques.
- Understanding of architectural software platforms, including CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools.
Skills
- Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
- Strong organizational skills for managing project documentation and timelines.
- Technical drawing and detailing skills for accurate construction documents.
- Communication skills for presenting ideas and collaborating with project teams.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple project deliverables under tight deadlines.

Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in architectural design.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Architecture.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and tools (e.g., LEED, WELL).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.
- Frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers, keyboards, telephones, and printers.
- Occasional light physical activity such as walking, standing, or carrying materials (up to 25 lbs.).
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and through written communication.
