Anika Systems is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to support a federal contract in the Washington, DC area. The selected candidate will contribute to the success of a cross-functional IT communications team, supporting efforts across enterprise architecture and IT governance initiatives. This role is responsible for producing a wide range of documentation including system and process documentation, technical guides, developer-facing resources, and user support materials.
This position is partly on-site in the Washington, DC area and candidates must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a government suitability clearance.
Key Responsibilities
Support the IT communications team by creating clear, concise technical content aligned with enterprise architecture and IT governance efforts Prepare, review, revise, and maintain documentation related to: Software and systems IT engineering and operations Installation and configuration Implementation and end-user guides Developer code and process documentation Field-level and data flow documentation Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure documentation accurately reflects system capabilities, user needs, and architectural standards Translate complex technical concepts and terminology into user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences Lead and maintain internal documentation processes, templates, and quality assurance standards Evaluate and enhance existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and compliance with established guidelines
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree 5+ years of experience as a technical writer in a federal or defense IT environment Proven ability to synthesize and document complex technical content Strong writing, editing, and communication skills Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams Experience documenting topics related to SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) Expertise in federal IT governance policies, compliance, and stakeholder engagement Familiarity with federal IT reporting frameworks, including CPIC and TBM Experience working with dashboards and reporting tools to provide actionable insights Proficiency in formatting, templating, and producing professional technical documentation
Preferred:
Experience supporting enterprise architecture and IT governance functions Familiarity with Agile methodologies
