Summary

Science Akadémeia is seeking a nurturing, reliable, and energetic Afterschool Care Teacher to supervise and engage preschool and early elementary-age students in our afterschool care program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about child development, have strong classroom management skills, and create a safe, structured, and fun environment aligned with our mission of providing high-quality, hands-on STEM education. Hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Duties

Key Responsibilities: Supervise students during aftercare hours and ensure a safe, inclusive environment at all times. Plan and facilitate age-appropriate enrichment activities ( play, art, games, quiet time). Assist with snack distribution and maintain cleanliness of the classroom. Support homework time or provide quiet reading/learning activities as needed. Foster positive social-emotional development and conflict resolution. Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate any incidents to the Director. Collaborate with other team members and contribute to a positive staff culture. Follow all licensing and safety procedures, including child pick-up protocols.

Requirements

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood education coursework is a plus.. Minimum 1 year of experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or educational setting. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Must pass background check and fingerprinting. Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor. Passion for working with children and commitment to Science Akadémeia’s mission.
