Advanced Student Experience ASE Nurse Extern Opportunity

Join Del Sol Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, for the exciting opportunity to work as an Advanced Student Experience (ASE) Nurse Extern. This position is tailored for nursing students in their final semester of the ASE Program.

As a Nurse Extern, you'll be an integral part of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience and exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You'll deliver safe, compassionate care that enhances patients' lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with Activities of Daily Living, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

This position is specifically for nursing students who are participating in the Advanced Student Experience (ASE) Program in their final semester of school.

Qualifications you will need:

• Currently enrolled and in good standing with an accredited school of Nursing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required
• Volunteer or experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
• Age specific knowledge of patient population in the specific department preferred
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
