Reports to : Activity Director
Job Description : As an Activity Aide, you will play a crucial role in enhancingthe quality of life for our residents by planning and facilitating engaging andmeaningful activities. Your creativity, empathy, and organizational skills willcontribute to creating a stimulating and enjoyable environment for ourresidents.
Responsibilities :
Activity Planning:Collaborate with the Activities Director and interdisciplinary team to developand implement a diverse range of activities that meet the physical, emotional,social, and cognitive needs of residents.
Activity Facilitation:Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, games, exercise programs, musictherapy, reminiscing sessions, and outings to ensure residents' participationand enjoyment.
IndividualizedEngagement: Assess residents' interests, preferences, and abilities to createpersonalized activity plans that promote their overall well-being.
Documentation:Maintain accurate and detailed records of resident participation, progress, andbehavior during activities, and contribute to progress notes and care plans asrequired.
Equipment andSupplies: Maintain inventory of activity supplies, ensuring they arewell-stocked, organized, and readily available for use.
Communication andCollaboration: Communicate regularly with residents, families, and the interdisciplinaryteam to gather feedback, address concerns, and share updates on residents'progress and needs.
Safety and Compliance:Follow facility policies and procedures, maintain a safe environment duringactivities, and adhere to infection control guidelines.
Emotional Support:Offer emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a nurturingand caring atmosphere within the facility.
ProfessionalDevelopment: Stay up-to-date with best practices and trends in recreationaltherapy and gerontology through ongoing training and professional developmentopportunities.
Qualifications : Education: High school diploma or equivalentis required. Additional coursework or certification in recreational therapy,gerontology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience working in askilled nursing facility, assisted living, or a similar healthcare setting isdesirable.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communicationand interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, andstaff members of diverse backgrounds.
Compassion and Empathy: Demonstrated abilityto connect with and understand the unique needs of older adults, includingthose with physical and cognitive limitations.
Creativity and Flexibility: Strong creativeand problem-solving skills to design engaging activities and adapt them toindividual residents' abilities and interests.
Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask,prioritize, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and ensure a smoothflow of activities.
Physical Stamina: Capable of standing,walking, and participating in physical activities for extended periods, as wellas assisting residents with mobility.
Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in usingcomputers and software for documentation, communication, and activity planningpurposes.
