Under minimal supervision, the Accounting Specialist is responsible for various functions related to maintaining and analyzing financial records within the Company. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial transactions and reports, with a main focus on accounts payables. The person in this role must have strong math, accounting, computer, and organizational skills.

Essential Duties & Functional Responsibilities Required

Essential Functions
- Performing tasks safely

- Meeting established procedures and productivity, safety and quality standards
- Meets attendance & punctuality standards
- Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
- Process accounts payable invoices
- Process general and business expenses per company guidelines
- Prepare and process wires
- Process credit card payments
- Reconciliation of accounts
- Process accounts receivable application forms and electronic documents including updating and filing
- Prepare and enter journal entries.
- Review, audit, and correct work and escalate any issues that cannot be resolved to supervisor
- Analyze account and financial data.
- Assist with preparation of monthly and year- end accounting closing and periodic audits, including preparing Profit & Loss statements
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Assist in resolving any AR and AP issues with operation team and department members as they arise
- Ability to stay organized and follow up on pending issues while meeting deadlines
- Adaptable to constant change within the organization and department
- Build knowledge of department policies & procedures in order to improve efficiencies as well as timely and accurate results.
- Additional duties as assigned within and outside the normal essential job duties
Non-Essential Functions
- Expedite courier arrangements (Fed-Ex)
- Collaborate with other team members to respond timely to branches and vendors
- Filing, maintaining and distributing accounting documents, records and reports
- Depositing of checks and verifying amounts against invoices
- Any other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions
Previous Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
- Relevant accounting certification, preferred but not required
- Equivalent work experience will be considered
Experience Requirements and Preferences
- Proven strong business acumen
- Proficient in Microsoft applications
- Bilingual in English and Japanese is a plus
- Must pass credit, drug screening and criminal background check
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex data
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to escalate issues that require supervisor’s attention
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. List any visa requirements, H1-B sponsorship, special clearances, etc.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
