Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Wound and Ostomy Care Nurse to implement policies, procedures, and standards of care focused on patient needs involving various types of wounds. In this role, you will provide direct patient care support to nursing staff while serving as a consultative resource regarding wound care. You will perform essential functions under the guidance of a Wound Care Coordinator. Key Responsibilities Deliver compassionate care for patients primarily dealing with wounds. Assess all wounds upon patient admission and continuously to create effective treatment plans. Collaborate with Registered Nurses and Wound Care Coordinators to review treatment plans. Report any changes in wound status promptly to the supervising staff. Assist in planning care to treat and prevent wounds effectively. Evaluate wound care products for effectiveness and cost efficiency; recommend as appropriate. Participate in developing comprehensive discharge plans for patients. Educate nursing staff on available wound care products. Analyze culture results and collaborate on treatment plans with physicians and Wound Care Coordinator. Contribute to root cause analysis and CMS quality data reporting as needed. Desired Qualifications Ability to adapt to new challenges, prioritize tasks, and apply problem-solving skills. In-depth knowledge of wound care practices. Skilled in wound debridement within professional scope. Able to act as a resource for nursing staff in complex wound management. Strong leadership qualities to motivate and develop team members. Collaborative team player. Fluent in English with strong communication skills. Consistent and reliable attendance is crucial. Willing to perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program leading to RN or LPN/LVN licensure. Licenses/Certifications: Current state RN or LPN/LVN license and BLS certification. Experience: Minimum of three years in nursing, with prior experience in acute care preferred.
