Overview
Weapons maintenance technicians are responsible for servicing and maintaining the Military’s weapons. They ensure these assets are fully operational at all times. These experts plan, organize, and perform every service necessary to keep these systems in pristine working condition so they are ready when needed. Military Training
All enlisted service members complete basic military training, which includes time spent in a classroom and in the field, and covers tactical and survival skills, physical training, military life and customs, and weapons training. Weapons maintenance technicians in the Military will gain skills through classroom study and on-the-job experience. Job-specific training content may include: Electronic and mechanical principles and concepts Use and understanding of schematics, drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams Operation, testing, and maintenance of weapons systems and fire control systems Operation, use, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, and mechanical test equipment Principles and concepts of electronics and mechanics Equipment repair Helpful Attributes
Ability to do work requiring accuracy and attention to detail Interest in working with electronic or electrical equipment Interest in working with weapon systems Related Civilian Careers
