RN Drip Responsibilities: No titration Common Drips: Fluids, blood, antibiotics
ACUTE REHAB UNIT OVERVIEW General Info # of Beds: 15 Patient Population: Common Diagnoses: Stroke, hip fracture, brain injury, orthopedic fractures, back surgery, diabetes, respiratory failure. Most Common Cases: Neuro/Ortho. Typical Treatments: Wound vacs, dressing changes.
Staffing & Ratios Nurse:Patient Ratio: 1:4–6 depending on census (Typically 2 RNs unless census >12) Charge Nurse: Present on both shifts; takes full patient load CNA Ratio: 1:10 + Rehab Tech Floating: May float to: Inpatient Medical Oncology Telemetry Surgical Ortho
Monitoring & Equipment Tele Monitoring: No Tele/Monitor Techs; RNs do not read strips Respiratory Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC RNs perform breathing treatments
Therapies & Interdisciplinary Staff Therapies: PT, OT, SLP involved Rehab Conference: Only quick AM huddles if RN is charge Scheduling & Requirements Shifts: 3 x 12-hour shifts Self-scheduling available Block scheduling may be accommodated
Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week period Holiday Coverage: Expected if needed Call/Standby: May be placed on-call for low census or if extra and not needed Orientation & Onboarding Unit-Specific Orientation: 2 x 12-hour shifts Includes following a therapist for transfer competency check-off
