Position Overview:

Join a multidisciplinary mental health team in Rochester as a Travel Psychiatric RN . This high-impact position provides compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric conditions in an inpatient setting. The unit operates on a rotating schedule, with responsibilities spanning clinical care, medication administration, and therapeutic engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and gather patient history

Formulate nursing diagnoses and collaborate on individualized treatment plans

Administer and monitor psychotropic medications and patient response

Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff

Deliver trauma-informed, patient-centered care in a behavioral health setting

Assist patients in understanding their diagnosis and treatment plan

Monitor pain levels, vital signs, and communicate findings to the care team

Document all interventions and assessments in accordance with facility and legal standards

Support patients and families through the emotional and psychiatric treatment process

Perform unit-based administrative tasks, including charting, filing, and communication

Participate in crisis de-escalation and restraint procedures when necessary

Required Qualifications:

Active NY RN License (No compact accepted)

Minimum 2 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience

CPI Certification (Crisis Prevention Intervention) – Required

BLS – American Heart Association ONLY
