Requirements

Experience

• Minimum: 6 months to 3 years RN experience required
• 5+ years direct med/surg experience strongly preferred
• Epic EHR experience preferred
• Previous acute care or ambulatory nursing experience ideal

Certifications

• Required (All must be active):
  • BLS (AHA, HSI, or Red Cross)
  • ACLS
  • PALS (PALS is a facility requirement – no exceptions)
• Preferred:
  • Specialty certifications (e.g., CMSRN, TNCC)

Licensure

• Active New York State RN license required

Unit Info

• Patient Population: Adults, typical med/surg cases
• Charting System: Epic (preferred but not required)
• Setting: Hospital-based, patient-centered environment

Job Responsibilities

• Full patient care cycle: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Medication administration per UHS policies
• Health promotion and disease management education
• Participation in Unit Council and shared governance
• Compliance with ANA standards and NY State Nurse Practice Act
• Support for student/new staff training
• Professional development and continuing education
• Evidence-based nursing practice integration

Miscellaneous

• Education:
  • Required: Graduate of accredited nursing program
  • Preferred: BSN
• Additional Notes:
  • 13-week contract (possibility for extension)
  • High emphasis on compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards
  • All certifications and license must be verified before submission
