Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. The unit provides care for adult and geriatric patients, with a focus on neuro and trauma ICU skills preferred. This role requires competency in critical care nursing, including ventilator management, neurological monitoring, and administration of advanced therapies. Key Responsibilities:

Provide nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in a 32-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 26. Manage patient care with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio during day shifts and weekends. Perform complex procedures including arterial line and central/PICC line management, IV therapy, and blood product administration. Assist with respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management, suctioning, fresh tracheostomy care, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC). Manage neurological critical care such as CVA/stroke care, ICP monitoring, external ventricular drains (EVD), post-craniotomy and traumatic brain injury care. Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation, paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and emergency medications. Apply infection prevention and isolation precautions following hospital protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams. Float within hospital units as required, with no restrictions. Qualifications:

Active Maryland RN license or Compact License required at time of submission. Minimum 1 year ICU experience required; 2 years preferred. Neuro/trauma ICU experience is strongly preferred (screen over if absent). Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS; TNCC certification preferred. Proficient with Epic charting system preferred. Must demonstrate skills checklist with at least 3/4 competencies in Neuro and Trauma ICU care. Flu vaccine required (no exemptions). Ability to work 3 consecutive 12-hour day shifts and every other weekend. Must be comfortable floating within the hospital system without restrictions. Unit Details:
