Orthopedic Clinic Unit Overview 2 years exp required
Unit Capacity:
- Rooms: 5 dedicated orthopedic exam rooms
Provider & Patient Volume:
- Providers per Day: 1–3 providers depending on the day
- Average Patient Volume: 20–40 patients per day (based on provider availability)
- Admin Day: One day per week dedicated to administrative work; no providers on-site
Staffing Model:
- One RN paired with each provider
- One additional RN supports general clinic operations and procedures
- Standard staffing on typical days includes 2 providers and 3 core clinic staff
Certifications Required:
- Active RN License
- BLS Certification
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses:
- Orthopedic post-operative patients
- Total joint replacement follow-ups
- Sports medicine patients
In-Clinic Physician Procedures Include:
- Cyst removals (primarily wrist/hand under local anesthesia)
- Casting and splinting
- Joint injections and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections
- Surgical follow-ups
- Suture and staple removal
- Brace fitting
Experience Requirements:
- Strongly prefer candidates with experience in:
- Orthopedics
- Sports medicine
- Surgical care
- Other acceptable backgrounds:
- Any outpatient clinic specialty
- Inpatient Med-Surg or ICU experience
- Epic EMR experience is required
- No first-time travelers accepted
Supervision:
- Reports to: Clinic Manager
Job Duties Include:
- Rooming patients based on scheduled appointments
- Collecting and documenting vital signs, medications, allergies, and visit reasons
- Assisting patients with changing for exams and prepping for imaging
- Coordinating and queuing patients for X-ray
- Assisting providers with treatments and procedures (e.g., joint injections)
- Drawing up and labeling compounded medications (administered by providers only)
- Managing triage calls
- Assisting with surgery scheduling
- Applying and managing braces and casts
Technology:
- EMR System: Epic (experience required)
Scheduling Details:
- Shift Length: 8 or 10 hours
- Variable Start Times: Between 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM
- Weekends: None
- Holidays: Closed on major holidays
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: None
