About the EmployerMission Statement: We are a devoted educational community that develops our students to become local and global influencers through dynamic learning experiences.Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Administrative Director of Facilities, Maintenance, Operations, & Transportation and guidance/supervision of the State Certified Instructor/Transportation and Operations Manager, complete classroom and behind the wheel training requirements for the purpose acquiring the necessary skills to prepare and apply for the Special Drivers Certificate and test with the California Highway Patrol. This position will prepare incumbents to promote to a Bus Driver or Bus Driver/Utility Worker. Trainees will receive instruction and learn to drive a school bus to transport students safely and efficiently to assigned locations; assure safety of vehicles by performing daily safety inspections and cleaning duties. Assists grounds and maintenance personnel; performs general custodial work and other related duties as assigned. Trainees must complete all prerequisite training within the first three months of employment. Upon successful completion and attainment of certification, trainees will be eligible to be promoted to a probationary Bus Driver or Bus Driver/Utility Worker position.Requirements / QualificationsDMV Printout (K-4 (Formerly H-6; Internet copy can be obtained at https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/customer-service/request-vehicle-or-driver-records/online-driver-record-request)Letter of IntroductionLetter(s) of Recommendation (Two letters of recommendation dated within the last two years.)Proof of HS GraduationResumeComments and Other InformationWork Schedule: 7.0 hours per day, 5.0 days per week, 9.5 months per year Sick leave and vacation are earned on a prorated basis at a rate of one day per month. A District insurance policy for hospitalization, major medical, dental, vision, and life is offered. School employees must join the State School Employees Retirement System. California School Employees Association Agreement (CSEA), Article VI, 6.1.3 states: "Voluntary transfer/promotion requests by an employee for any opening shall be given prior consideration over a new employee.
