Therapeutic Recreation Aide POSITION SUMMARY The Therapeutic Recreation Aide is accountable for performing therapeutic programming under the direction of the Therapeutic Recreation Director and according to the overall plan of care, with the ultimate goal of enhancing residents’ quality of life. Meets the individual interests as well as the physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being of each resident through a variety of programming. Documents participation and interest and collects other data that will be used to determine if individual resident needs are being met and in keeping with the Resident’s Bill of Rights, as well as the facility's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
RESPONSIBILITIES : ·       Therapeutic Programming: Plans and facilitates daily activities that promote engagement and are adapted to residents’ individual needs and abilities. ·       Resident Engagement: Encourages participation, provides one-on-one visits for isolated residents, and builds positive, supportive relationships with residents and their families. ·       Schedule Management: Maintains and updates activity calendars, adjusts schedules based on census changes, and uses downtime for planning and program development. ·       Support During Activities: Transports and assists residents during in-facility and off-site events, ensures inclusivity, and supports volunteers in delivering meaningful programs. ·       Documentation & Care Coordination: Accurately records resident participation, tracks progress, aligns activities with care plans, and contributes to care conferences as needed. ·       Health, Safety & Compliance: Follows HIPAA and infection control protocols, reports incidents promptly, and ensures proper use and maintenance of activity equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS ·       Passion for Senior Care: Demonstrates a genuine desire to work with seniors, including those with illnesses and disabilities, while advocating for their well-being. ·       Relationship Building: Strong ability to connect with residents, families, and staff through empathy, compassion, and active listening. ·       Preferred Experience: Background in healthcare settings, such as skilled nursing or assisted living, is beneficial. ·       Key Competencies: Skilled in multitasking, adapting to change, working in diverse and fast-paced environments, and communicating clearly in English.
