University Health Services (UHS) is a dynamic, fast-paced college health practice committed to providing excellent health care to the students of the University of Notre Dame. The Radiology Technologist is a valued member of the UHS team and works collaboratively with our providers, nurses, support staff, and administrators. The technologist provides diagnostic imaging services to eligible patients in a convenient and timely manner and demonstrates expertise in digital imaging, storage, and transmission of images. The position supports all aspects of services provided by demonstrating respect and dignity of the patient, reflecting the unique character of the Notre Dame community, and sponsoring the teachings of the Catholic Church. Direct Patient Care: Follow instructions from Providers regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging.
Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position.
Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient.
Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding to reduce unnecessary radiation exposure to themselves and to the patient.
Document appropriately for correct positioning on images, appropriate billing CPT codes, work with teleradiology for reads as needed.
Talk the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Indirect Patient Care: Handle highly sensitive patient information by collection from patient, filing to records, retrieving from storage, electronic transmission and data entry to patient medical record.
Management of x-ray department and procedures; superuser of digital software and equipment.
Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders.
Maintain autoclave for sterilization of equipment.
Assists in the front office as needed.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
Professional standards: Maintain medical records and other healthcare documents according to patient-privacy requirements to assure patient confidentiality.
Document all care they provide in the electronic medical record.
Participate in quality improvement activities consistent with other members of the clinical staff.
Maintain basic CPR life-saving certification; will be provided as needed.
" Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Applied Science, Radiologic Technology. Must be ARRT certified and Indiana licensed.
6-12 months experience.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk and assist/lift patients.
Must be detail oriented, knowledge with math, science, and the human body.
Must be comfortable interacting with patients.
