Focus: The Technical Advisor - CMP is responsible for supporting the Chlorinated Methane Products (CMP) facility as a resource on the Operations Staff Team, combining strong technical and interpersonal skills to coach and enhance the technical capabilities of the CMP team by sharing experiences, technical skills, and knowledge to run a reliable, low-cost, on-specification, and productive operation. Provides hands-on training of new personnel to the department.
The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.
Technical Advisor – CMP Essential Responsibilities:
Serves as a subject matter expert in technical/process areas, guiding operations teams to enhance performance, tool usage, and policy understanding.
Coaches and transfers knowledge to improve team skills, resolve technical issues, and promote continuous improvement through consistent application of Operating Discipline.
Reinforces a strong Safety, Health, and Environmental culture by promoting safe practices, regulatory compliance, and participation in key programs and events.
Supports operator development by setting expectations, monitoring performance, and coaching on technical problem-solving and accountability.
Monitors daily plant metrics (, schedule, performance, quality, trends) to identify issues, anticipate failures, and drive proactive solutions.
Technical Advisor - CMP Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree* in a related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a plant operations role required; chlorinated organics experience preferred.
Must have DCS experience ( MOD V, DeltaV, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment
Basic experience using Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SAP experience preferred
Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
