Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm (40 hours) A Day in the Life of a Teacher Assistant: As a full-time Teacher Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the classroom experience by actively supporting the teacher in all aspects of the school day. Your contributions will extend to facilitating engaging instructional activities and fostering a positive learning environment under the classroom teachers' guidance. Your impact will be significant in shaping students' educational journeys. Supervises classroom activities and the established daily routine upon teacher absence from the classroom. Participates in daily planning with the classroom team to include anecdotal record keeping (developmental/behavioral) and collection of behavior data as needed. Actively engages with students on a consistent basis including interacting using verbal and nonverbal means during structured and unstructured activities. Demonstrates consistent use of reflective listening and conflict resolution techniques to support development of coping skills as well as enhance independent problem solving and positive social interactions within the classroom. Responsible for assuring the personal safety of children in all settings throughout the day including gym and outside play. Maintains good rapport with parents/guardians during contacts in program and in the community. Maintains routine parent communication systems as needed. Who We Are Looking For: High School Diploma or G.E.D. In addition you must have one of the following: AS Degree or higher in Early Childhood Development or related field OR: CDA credential and one year experience caring for children OR; 9 college credits in Early Childhood Development or a related field with a plan of study leading to a Child Development Associate credential and two years' experience caring for children OR; 9 college credits in Early Childhood Development or related field with a plan of study leading to an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field and two years' experience caring for children. Teacher Assistant Certification. Must possess a current, valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency driver standards.
