Junior Systems Administrator Bowhead seeks a Junior Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the Program Office for NSWC Corona, Corona Division in Norco, California. The Systems Administrator will work for the senior systems administrator analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and lead or collaborate with other system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and program analysts within an agile environment. This position is 100% onsite. Responsibilities include: Administering and supporting daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstation, file servers, and web servers. Installation of hardware, software, systems upgrades, network accounts, network security, and web page design, interface and updates, and local system design documentation. Maintaining Cyber WorkForce (CWF) directives with respect to certifications. Maintaining, troubleshooting, and implementing network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services. Answering questions about installation, operation, configuration, and customization. Supporting troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network related issues encountered by users. Supporting software including Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and various specialty engineering and scientific development tools. Installing new software releases, system upgrades, evaluation and installation of patches and resolving software related issues and Information Assurance Vulnerabilities (IAVs). Assisting with the maintenance and monitoring of the organizational mailbox to ensure that all users receive timely support in response to their requests for assistance. Supporting the organizations Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for achieving system accreditation. Maintaining data files and monitoring system configuration to ensure data integrity. Performing system administration tasks across Windows and/or Linux platforms, including patching, user access, and security configuration. Developing, testing, and maintaining scripts or small applications to automate system tasks and support operational requirements. Supporting the integration of new technologies and tools into classified and unclassified environments. Monitoring system performance, availability, and security compliance. Documenting system configurations, standard operating procedures, and code. Collaborating with cybersecurity teams to ensure RMF compliance and implement STIGs. Providing Tier II support for escalated service tickets and technical issues. Participating in incident response, change control, and configuration management processes. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent work experience. 3-5 years of experience in system administration or software programming within a DoD or federal IT environment. Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, or JavaScript). Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and system monitoring tools. Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, STIGs, and DoD IA policies. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic SDLC practices. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. U.S. Citizenship and Active DoD Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred). Security Clearance Requirements: Must currently hold a security clearance at the minimum Secret level. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time. Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
