OVERVIEW:
The position of Supervising Attorney – Bankruptcy Operations (SA) at Padgett Law Group a/k/a Timothy D. Padgett, P.A. is an executive level leadership position within the firm’s organizational chart and provides oversight of designated support staff dedicated to the firm’s bankruptcy operation to meet the needs of the firm’s growth and development. The SA reports directly and solely to the firms designated Senior Supervising Attorney of Bankruptcy, who serves at the discretion of the Assistant Vice President of Bankruptcy. This position is not anticipated to carry a caseload, but will from time to time, dependent on firm volume, growth plans and market trends, be assigned to specific bankruptcy matters relating to the SA’s state(s) of licensure or area of expertise and shall be responsible for reasonable timeline, performance and billing objectives set forth by PLG.
The SA is responsible for leading the firm’s bankruptcy practice and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal areas of concern relating to default servicing. He/she is accountable for the day-to-day business activities of the firm within the specified area(s) of responsibility. The SA is required to communicate the firm’s strategic vision and business strategy to those reporting directly into the SA and will further be responsible for the training implementation of core competency skills necessary to meet the operational standards of the firm and its clients. The SA is responsible for ensuring quality, timely legal work is produced consistently throughout the bankruptcy department and that internal and external systems and/or platforms are updated to reflect existing performance standards. The SA provides purposeful guidance and regular communication regarding the relative status and performance of bankruptcy through data reports as required or directed by the Senior Supervising Attorney.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Operations Management and Responsibilities. Supervising Attorney – Bankruptcy Operations responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Provide Leadership
oAct with integrity, energy and commitment at all times
oResponsible for displaying and embodying firm culture
oMaintain consistency and stability through work ethic, personal conduct and crisis management
oTimely escalate, manage and mitigate any firm risk related legal matters performed by the firm’s bankruptcy department
oBe able to review and distinguish performance-based metrics including but not limited to productivity, profitability and sustainability
oProvide additional assistance when required to ensure defined deliverables assigned to both the Claim Related Matters (CRM) Manager are met with competency and sufficiency
•Exceed Client Expectations
oBecome a leader and expert in client work standards
oEnsure client standards and expectations are communicated to direct reports and implemented among bankruptcy processes
oAchieve shorter-than-average timelines for the bankruptcy process
oAttain passing scores as defined by the firm’s compliance department, at a minimum, on all client scorecards for bankruptcy
?Review scorecards upon distribution with all impacted parties
?Develop, document and deliver remediation processes for below standard performance
?Engage with the client for bankruptcy expectations
oParticipate in client audits impacting bankruptcy
oEnsure that client surveys are responded to in a timely fashion
•Recruit and Develop Talent
oCoordinate with Human Resources to continuously recruit new talent
oForce rank employees consistently
oCoach and mentor high potential employees
oConsult on high-level for strategic hires in bankruptcy
oManage performance reviews on an annual basis, at a minimum, for direct reports and provide recommendations for economic and career growth plans
•Develop and Maintain a Robust Training Program
oResponsible for training and cultivating CRM attorneys
oPrograms required for new hire and annual training
•Enhance Case Management System
oWork with each division of the bankruptcy department, in collaboration with the firm’s development team, to oversee enhancements related to efficiency and ease of use for each bankruptcy process in the firm’s case management system
oCoordinate necessary reports for scheduled distribution
oMonitor the effectiveness of utilized reports and provide guidance to development teams in order to enhance and create increased productivity
•Ensure Bankruptcy Profitability
oIt is the expectation of the firm that the bankruptcy department is profitable on its own accord
oWork with the AVPs to review expenses for areas of reduction
oWork with the AVPs to review profit for areas of opportunity
oSuccessfully implement the budget as outlined and provided by the firms AVP of Bankruptcy
•Future Expansion
oParticipate in the building process for new bankruptcy states
Personnel Management. Operations leaders up to and including supervisors, managers, and directors, in addition to bankruptcy attorneys, will report to the Supervising Attorney – Bankruptcy via a designated subsection of the firm’s organizational chart.
