GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree in subject area, Master’s Degree Preferred, a minimum of two years of experience in facilitating/ teaching related subject, and knowledge of work with under-prepared students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following:
Provide Day, Evening, and Virtual Support.
Collaborate with other math tutors to meet the needs of the student population.
Disseminates information that may require explanation and interpretation of established departmental policies and procedures, and directs individuals to sources of additional information.
Assist with supplemental instruction.
Submit tutorial updates to be posted on Social Media Accounts.
Assist with the coordination of math student workers.
Supervise the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the math lab; availability of supplementary materials and maintain an appropriate learning environment; establish and monitor lab schedules to optimize tutor availability and student participation.
Meet and confer with math department faculty; establish and implement program standards, policies, and procedures.
Attend all math department meetings on campus and college-wide.
Monitor student alert processes using the drop-out protection software.
Design, implement, and assess support programs, including tutoring, writing labs, and academic workshops.
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Hinds CC programs and assist students in identifying which programs effectively meet their goals.
Maintain/schedule for orientation/advising/special projects/programs/events for departments.
Monitor designated student academic progress.
Prepare and maintain records of student lab usage; tabulate and report time of students in special programs; operate a computer to input and tabulate attendance for various reports; establish files for individual students.
Participate in the review, selection, and adaptation of instructional materials for the lab.
Evaluate tutorial program periodically; solicit feedback, recommendations, and evaluations from faculty members relevant to the program and tutors; propose and implement changes to the program as needed.
Schedule and conduct lab tours and travel to other locations to evaluate lab operations.
Perform related duties as assigned.
