Position: Golf Course Starter
Related Titles: Outside Operations Manager
Reports To: Director of Golf
Department: Golf Operations
Position Concept: The Starter is one of the most visible employees of the facility. This position is tasked with providing customers with service regarding tee times, tee time coordination, rules, policies and pace of play instructions. This position is also responsible for assisting with accurate daily play totals and other duties as directed. Due to the nature of the position, the golf starter must be pleasant but firm, all while providing the ultimate in customer service.
Supervised By: Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf

Job Tasks / Primary Duties:
The Starter job duties include but are not limited to:
Operates the starter’s booth in the highest professional manner.
Assures the orderly flow of play in accordance with the posted tee times.
Maintains adequate supply of scorecards, pencils, tees, ball markers, etc. at starters area.
Promotes the facility programs, events, and image to the membership.
Provides a welcoming “first contact” with members. Creates an enjoyable experience to help start off their round.
Checks with golf shop for unusual instructions, such as cart path only, etc.
Communicates with golfers any special instructions that are pertinent for day's play.
Monitors and updates a computerized tee sheet throughout the day.
Makes sure all equipment; cart, radio, water stations, etc. are working correctly.
Keeps starter area neat and clean at all times
Informs the golf shop of any maintenance issues that need to be addressed.
Assists other outside staff as needed.
The position may perform additional duties as needed/required.

Schedule: The Starter will primarily work no more than 40 hours per week. However, based on required service levels, the above mentioned hours could be more or less.
