Summit Human Capital is seeking a highly motivated 100% Remote Staff Software Engineer to support one of our clients in the biotechnology / precision oncology industry. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

Required: • 8+ years in scientific/research-based organizations • Proficiency in Python, Java, AWS, and Docker • Strong OS, networking, distributed systems, databases, and storage knowledge • Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and code optimization at the hardware level • Experience in production incident management (root cause analysis, mitigation) • Background in regulated environments (ISO, quality systems) • Bachelor's/Master's in CS, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field • Proven leadership & mentoring experience, strong communication skills

Desired: • NGS laboratory workflows & data management • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools & computational biology workflows • Software validation experience (ISO 13485, ISO 27001, IEC 62304)

Responsibilities: • Translate stakeholder needs into robust, scalable, compliant software • Design solutions leveraging AWS/GCP for data storage & analysis • Ensure performance, robustness, and regulatory compliance • Apply best practices: automated testing, CI/CD, change management • Write/debug/maintain code per standards; create validation & documentation • Participate in design reviews & regulated product design control processes • Monitor software systems, resolve incidents, implement preventive measures • Develop automation tools for deployment, configuration, and monitoring • Drive process improvements for reliability & scalability • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering collaboration & continuous improvement
