POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for a variety of duties in the accounting department. Billing preparation, account reconciliation, sales tax returns and filings, and assisting with audit requests. This position is non-exempt (hourly) with a salary range between $27.00 - $31.00 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES Create customer billings Create project accounts in the accounting system Complete monthly GL account reconciliations Review and approve supplier invoices as related to specific projects Assist with sales tax returns and filings Research and reply to audit requests from external auditors Respond to customer requests Close out project accounts upon project completion. Process credit card payments Responsible for vendor credit applications and customer credit applications Request Certificates of Insurance for projects. Handle any miscellaneous paperwork needed to support billing/processing of billing.
Minimum Education and Experience Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or similar business degree; or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years prior experience working as an accountant or bookkeeper. Sales tax experience. Strong communication skills. Key competencies are communication, teamwork, initiative, and dependability. Experience working in an accounting position for construction industry a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting software. Proven ability to form long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with customers. Positive attitude that is conscientious, enthusiastic, articulate, and possesses a professional attitude to handle a fast-paced work environment. Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers and work effectively as a team member. Working Conditions and Frequency Work is completed on a laptop in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting. The ability to work remotely occasionally is available once training is fully complete. You must be able to commute to our office in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
