Colonial Bookkeeping & Tax, Inc is growing and looking to add an experienced, detail-oriented staff accountant to our team-oriented boutique firm. In this position, you will handle all accounting operations for multiple companies, verify financial records and transactions, draft and prepare business and individual tax returns. You must have a keen attention to detail and maintain account balances, financial statements, general ledger, and all reports. This is a full-time position; however, we are also accepting applications from part-time candidates
*Responsibilities:* * Oversee accounts payable and receivable * Prepare financial statements and analysis * Analyze financial reports * Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency * Provide technical support and advice to clients * Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures * Provide input into department’s goal setting process * Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls * Ensure compliance with GAAP principles * Forecast and plan for future needs * Prepare financial reports for taxes, regulatory agencies, and stockholders * Maintain account balances and bank statements * Manage general ledger and support month-end/year-end close processes * Ensure compliance with all internal processes * Prepare Forms 1120S, 1065, and 1040
*Requirements and Skills: * * Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures * Awareness of business trends * Accuracy and attention to detail * Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite knowledge * Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus * Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) * Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations * Able to analyze financial records and interpret for other departments * Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Education & Experience:* * Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field * QuickBooks Online: 1 year (desired but not required) * Accounting: 1 year (desired but not required) * Tax preparation: 1 year (desired but not required)

Pay: $68,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
