At the direction of the County Commissioners performs tasks related to special projects for County departments as assigned. Preliminary projects will be mainly related to Community Development Services in assisting with update/rewrite of County Code, Zoning Ordinances, and Comprehensive Plan. Duties / Responsibilities The incumbent coordinates work meetings; gathers information; and provides follow-up reports on the progress of updating and/or establishing complex initiatives and projects with internal and external stakeholders. Works under limited supervision and must use a significant degree of independent judgment during strategic planning and project completion while taking initiative to complete assigned work. Essential Functions Coordinates work meetings working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders; Works closely with management and legal counsel to ensure projects are fully vetted and successfully completed; Filters project requests and provides prioritizes projects of high importance; Assists with definitions of project objectives, desired outcomes, scope, responsibilities, and action plans; Assists management with planning short- and long-term goals to meet project deadlines; Works collaboratively with multiple departments to solve problems that address administrative efforts ranging from day-to-day workflow to implementing new procedures; Serves as the primary point of contact in rewriting codes, ordinances, comprehensive plan and other projects as assigned; Attends work meetings, takes notes, prepares draft documents for final review; Prepares other documents, correspondence, and legal requests as necessary; Prepares and presents reports and recommendations verbally and in writing; Plans events, presentations, and training as requested; Conducts research into laws and regulations governing operations. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications At least (2) two years of related experience in increasingly responsible positions; Knowledge of Community Development Services and/or local government processes desirable; Skill in working with multiple complex theories and projects; Skill in the operation of Microsoft Office products; Skill in independently managing and prioritizing complex and highly visible projects; Skill in making and conducting presentations; Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective communications; Skill establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships; Skill in conducting research and making sound recommendations based on analysis of data; Ability to develop ideas from concept through implementation using group facilitation skills; Ability to exercise independent judgment; Ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish goals. Experience in planning, researching, and analysis of data reporting and complex projects Skill in organizing projects and developing timelines and schedules; Ability to maintain objectivity while evaluating processes and operations, and to make recommendations in an unbiased manner; Ability to prepare accurate and complete written reports; Ability to present analysis to large groups; Ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish goals; Time management skills, and Ability to maintain confidentiality. Work Environment & Physical Demands Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions; May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.; Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
