As the right hand to our Chef, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of culinary excellence while leading and inspiring our kitchen team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CULINARY EXCELLENCE: Execute menu items with precision, ensuring consistent quality and presentation that meets Bakan's exceptional standards Supervise food preparation, cooking, and plating during all service periods Maintain knowledge of current culinary trends and seasonal ingredients LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT: Lead by example with high standards of discipline, professionalism, and work ethic Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to achieve their full potential Effectively communicate with our bilingual team (English-Spanish) to ensure seamless operations Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and excellence OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT: Oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, service, and closing procedures Implement and maintain strict cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations Manage timing and quality control during peak service periods Coordinate with FOH team to ensure exceptional guest experiences FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Control food costs through proper portioning, waste reduction, and inventory management Assist with purchasing decisions and vendor relationships Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular stock assessments Contribute to menu engineering and pricing strategies
REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role at a high-volume, upscale restaurant Proven leadership abilities with experience managing diverse kitchen teams Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices Excellent organizational and multitasking skills under pressure ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual proficiency (English-Spanish) required Flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred ServSafe certification required Strong knife skills and equipment proficiency PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Natural leader with high standards of discipline and accountability Passionate about culinary excellence and continuous improvement Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations
