But moving at the new speed of science requires better technology.Benchling’s mission is to unlock the power of biotechnology. The world’s most innovative biotech companies use Benchling’s R&D Cloud to power the development of breakthrough products and accelerate time to milestone and market.Come help us bring modern software to modern science.Role OverviewBenchling is on a mission to accelerate the pace of life sciences research and development. To do that, we build a suite of tools that scientists use daily to solve humanity's most pressing problems. The tools we build must be optimized to make scientists more efficient in their work, across a broad spectrum of research, development, and manufacturing tasks. The pace of drug development has increased in recent years, with the number of novel drugs being launched annually rising to almost twice the level as in the early 2000’s. Process science has evolved considerably to support these aims, but the software applications available to process teams remains a siloed array of rigid point solutions, legacy notebooks and internally-built systems. All of these software applications contribute to siloed data, poor user experience, and high cost of ownership, forcing scientists to spend as much as 20-35% of their time searching for and aligning their data for analysis.A new digital approach is required for process teams to thrive in the modern era of biopharmaceutical development. That’s where the Procedures team comes into picture. As a software engineer on the brand new 0 to 1 Procedures team, you’ll work closely with other engineers, product, and design to empower scientists to model and represent their process in Benchling. You’ll get to engage closely with scientists and those who support them (our customers) to build products that will push forward the wave of biotechnology.ResponsibilitiesOwn projects end-to-end, from initial design, to prototype, to large-scale rollout.Design and implement backend models and API endpoints for complex scientific workflows.Design and implement rich frontend components and architecture.
