Job Summary
The TRIO ETS College Bound Specialist II will provide office support for the ETS College Bound program. This position will assist with events and programs as needed; provide effective and professional communication and be comfortable with speaking in public; provide support in conducting tours with visiting ETS students; and assisting with promotional efforts, including occasionally attending evening events at target schools (Granger High, Valley Jr. High, West Lake STEM Jr. High, West High, and Northwest Middle School); and ability to handle important and sensitive information, such as student records. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Participate as a team member of the TRIO ETS College Bound department by: Work effectively in a team environment.
Participate consistently in appropriate follow-up, documentation, and evaluation activities, including, but not limited to checking and responding to email, text, phone calls and other communication means.
Presenting information about TRIO ETS to large and small groups of students during the academic year.
Informing TRIO ETS students and their families of campus resources and services.
Marketing TRIO ETS services, events, resources, etc across social media platforms, as well as traditional mediums.
Ability to work with and safeguard confidential information.
Assist with event, field trips, program logistics, including scheduling and arranging requested services.
Participate in TRIO event planning and execution.
Create a welcoming environment for students.
Meet with supervisor on a recurring basis or as needed to go over completed peer mentor tasks.
Attend all other scheduled activities, events, staff meetings and meetings related to the program. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications Current SLCC student.
Must qualify for federal work-study.
Must pass SLCC background check, as well as Granite and SLC School districts’ background checks. Preferred Qualifications Familiar with communities in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City and West Valley City. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Candidate should possess the ability to: Communicate effectively (in writing and verbally) with a wide range of individuals.
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
Present in front of large audiences as well as provide one-on-one consultations.
Work collaboratively with others in the TRIO team, as well as our campus and community partners.
Utilize basic computer operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), as well as SLCC’s computer systems (MySuccess, DegreeWorks, Ring Central).
Proficiency with social media platforms and ability to market across platforms to different TRIO ETS audiences.
Gather, process, and organize large amounts of information accurately.
Be dependable, have excellent organizational skills, and pay close attention to details.
