Job Summary
The Site Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing our organization's technological infrastructure. Work closely with other Information Services teams and project stakeholders to ensure that MDH systems are reliable, secure, and efficient.
Job Specifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or years of equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field.
Strong knowledge of networking, operating systems, and system administration
Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
Experienced in the management of both physical and logical information security systems.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks; communication skills to train personnel, confer with other hospital employees and technical personnel and prepares oral and written reports and records.
Critical thinking skills with project management ability to plan operational security changes.
A preference of technical activities in order to keep informed on operation of new equipment and new techniques for operating current machines.
Ability to deal with people, such as other hospital departmental supervisors to resolve problems, concerns with scheduling, adequacy, and accuracy of data.
Ability to make decisions of judgmental basis to prioritize work assignments to make maximum use of knowledge and ability, and most effective and economical use of computers and peripheral equipment.
Absolute integrity and sufficient maturity to handle confidential aspects of work.
Ability to work independently.
Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
