Pomperaug Woods is recruiting for a hospitality focused Short Order Cook to join our team! This position is responsible for maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.
Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Prep Cook:
Assists production staff with preparation of ingredients for entrees.
Assists production in the preparation and service of various foods in assigned work situations including pantry items, soups, sauces, poultry and fish items.
Assists cooks in the preparation of basic dessert items as well as breakfast items for residents and patients.
Performs daily cleaning and sanitation tasks
Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:
High school diploma
Currently attending a culinary school or has worked a minimum of six months as a prep cook in a hotel, restaurant, club, or similar institution.
Skills/Certification: Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet. Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicates effectively, and performs simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
Certification in food handling (or within six months of hire)
