Location: NYC Metro Area Title:  Sr. IT Systems Engineer Job Type:  Contract The Senior IT Workspace Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our digital workplace strategy. This is a high-impact, hands-on position that combines technical leadership, and product ownership. You’ll architect and deliver secure, scalable, and user-centric workspace solutions that drive productivity, mobility, and collaboration across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Workspace Architecture & Strategy Define and evolve digital workspace architecture, including endpoint management, identity, security, and collaboration platforms.
Lead regional planning and execution for modern device management and user experience optimization.
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies aligned with global digital transformation goals.
Solution Design & Delivery Own the full lifecycle of workspace solutions—from requirements gathering to deployment and support.
Collaborate with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure, compliant, and resilient platforms.
Device, Endpoint & Identity Management Manage device lifecycle and configuration using tools such as Workspace ONE (AirWatch) and Tanium.
Integrate with Azure Active Directory, IAM, and MFA to support a secure hybrid work environment.
Define and enforce governance policies for mobile access and platform usage.
Automation & Operational Efficiency Build automation pipelines using PowerShell, Python, or Terraform to streamline operations.
Enhance observability and reliability through proactive monitoring and alerting systems.
Security, Compliance & Risk Apply Zero Trust principles across endpoints, identities, and collaboration tools.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and regional regulations (., GDPR, data sovereignty).
Leadership & Collaboration Act as a senior technical advisor to IT leadership and project stakeholders.
Mentor junior engineers and serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
Partner with global teams to standardize and scale workspace services across regions.
Documentation & Enablement Create high-quality documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational playbooks.
Lead workshops and technical briefings for support teams, business users, and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or digital workplace roles in enterprise environments.
Proven success in designing and deploying complex workspace solutions across regions or business units.
Hands-on expertise with Microsoft 365, Windows 11, Workspace ONE, Azure AD, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Strong scripting skills in PowerShell; familiarity with Python, Terraform, or similar tools.
Deep understanding of enterprise endpoint security, IAM, SSO, MFA, and compliance frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
VMware Certified Professional – Digital Workspace (VCP-DW 2024)
Security or architecture certifications (., CISSP, TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect)
Experience working in multicultural, matrixed organizations
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
