Position Summary: The GL Accountant is vital in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, particularly in new home construction. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments. Key Responsibilities: General Ledger: Record and review journal entries, reconcile accounts, investigate budget variances, and maintain fixed assets. Provide backup support for General Ledger Accountant I. Construction Accounting: Reconcile Work-In-Progress (WIP) accounts and handle monthly pay applications for contract jobs. Internal Controls and Compliance: Help develop and implement accounting policies, support audits, and identify process improvements. Other: Manage related party rebills, property tax files, and annual tangible tax returns. Perform additional tasks as needed. Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers and other departments, train junior staff, and communicate with auditors and third-party stakeholders. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA preferred but not required. 3 years of public accounting or 6+ years in general ledger accounting, ideally in construction or real estate. Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles. Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Timberline) and advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
