POSITION TITLE: Santiam Elementary School
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time, 8 hours per day, 208 contract days with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.

Santiam Canyon is located in the beautiful foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range and proudly serves the communities of Mill City, Gates, Detroit, Idanha and surrounding areas. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
Compose and type correspondence, memos, reports and minutes of meetings.
Monitors the records of individual students.
Models appropriate behavior in various social settings.
Oversees and supervises students in the hallways and in the office area; ensuring safety and security at all times.
Communicates effectively with teachers, students, educational aides, parents and administrators.
Maintains accurate and complete records including attendance, daily activity logs, etc.
Type other routine or confidential materials, such as student, staff or faculty records as requested by administration. Use knowledge of district policies and practices for appropriate handling of confidential information.
Keep complex records and prepare related reports.
Answer phones and greet visitors, route and take messages.
Communicate by phone, correspondence, email or in person, with people both within the district and outside regarding a variety of business matters, including vendor relations, facilities usage and student records and similar matters.
Keep records which require a high degree of accuracy, including ledgers of money received, bank deposits, check records and administer student body financial accounts. Must be able to balance and maintain student body funds (ASB accounts) and also prepare bank deposits.
Keep student transcripts, attendance and class records and make related reports.
Arrange for substitutes and keep track of payroll/leave forms.
Process requisitions and purchase orders from department accounts.
Conduct computer operations including input into fiscal and student accounting systems.
Order, receive and distribute inventories and maintain school supplies as budgeted.
Create and maintain student accident records.
Supervise access to student records to insure compliance with confidentiality requirements.
Serve as student registrar, performing enrollment and transfer processing.
Telephone and confer with parents regarding pupil absences and other matters of student welfare as requested by parent-teacher groups and outside organizations.
Follows prescribed daily schedule as outlined by the principal.
Assists students with managing behaviors and problem solving.
Assists the principal in scheduling appropriate meetings and completion of paperwork.
Assists the principal, when directed, in communicating with parents/guardians regarding students.
Administers medications within the scope of District policy(ies) and state and federal law.
Evaluates student injuries, determines course of action, performs minor first aide in compliance with District policy(ies) and completes required paperwork in a timely fashion.
Participates effectively at regular meetings using appropriate social skills, problem solving and conflict resolution strategies.
Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
Professionally and positively represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff and students.
Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
Attends work regularly and is punctual.
QUALITY STANDARD OF WORK: Able to perform assigned duties with accuracy and dependability. Also able to perform duties at a rate which allows the school's educational and support services programs to operate efficiently and effectively.
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the building principal in accordance with the provisions of Board policy.
